Alberta Mental Health App app for iPhone and iPad

This app was been developed by a group of health care professionals and mental health consultants with the aim to assist other health care professionals/first responders understand the process involved with certification of effected individuals under the provisions of the Alberta Mental Health Act. The app will help the user navigate through the certification process using a series of step-by-step touch button icons. It has been developed in a user friendly manner that will also allow the general public to better understand the process involved with Mental Health Certification in Alberta. While the app’s purpose is primarily educational, it does include a number of resources that could prove useful to those health care professionals/first responders involved with the certification process, including: direct on-line access to the Alberta Mental Health Act itself; a list of associated Alberta Mental Health Act Forms, with the capacity to wirelessly send each form to a email account or printer; flow charts that summarize the certification, review and appeals process; a list of the designated psychiatric facilities in Alberta; and a bibliography of term definitions. It also lists, and provides touch icon access to a number of 24 hour Crisis Line phone centres in the province.
